Staff

All physical therapists and physical therapist assistants employed at Physical Therapy One have graduated from accredited physical therapy education programs. The staff has committed endless hours to the study of human development and movement and is required to practice state of the art rehabilitation principles. Each therapist attends several seminars and meetings annually to expand their clinical knowledge and remain current on all the up to date research.

CLINICAL STAFF:

Joe Walters, M.S.P.T. (Co-owner)

Joe grew up in Kentucky and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University and Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He has been a private practitioner since 1994 and practicing orthopedic physical therapy since 1990. Joe enjoys golf, classic cars, and spending quality time with his wife Leah and two children.

Leah Walters, B.S.P.T. (Co-owner)

Leah is a native of Kalamazoo. She graduated from Portage Northern High School in 1984. She attended Indiana University and graduated from the University of Illinois' physical therapy program in Chicago. Leah has been a physical therapist since 1989. She has extensive experience in neurologic rehabilitation and enjoys orthopedic treatment of all kinds. Her interest includes tennis, cooking, philanthropy, and spending quality time with her family.

Barbara Eby, P.T., D.P.T., M.Ed.

Barb began her career in physical therapy in 1991. She has been with Physical Therapy One since 1999 and is now the Clinic Director of the Portage location. She is a graduate of Grand Valley State University's Physical Therapy School. She earned her Master's in Education from Wayne State University. She earned a doctorate of Physical Therapy from Temple University. Vestibular rehabilitation and treatment for head and neck pain are her areas of expertise. Barb is married with three children.

Mary-Teresa Fletter, M.S.P.T.

Mary-Teresa "M-T" was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. She relocated to Kalamazoo after earning her Master's degree in Physical Therapy from Washington University in December 1998. Her clinical areas of interest include sports and orthopedic related injuries, and she enjoys clinical teaching. She is now Clinic Director for the Stadium Drive location. M-T has served as a Girls on the Run Coach for the last four years and she is anavid soccer player. She is married and enjoys biking, running, walking, and spending time with her family and friends.

Kathy Koob, M.P.T.

Kathy graduated from Gull Lake High School and the Kalamazoo Area Math and Science Center. She is a graduate of Ferris State University where she played volleyball for 4 years. Her master's degree in physical therapy was earned in 2002 from Oakland University. Kathy has clinical interest in orthopedic and sports injury. She enjoys running, camping, and spending time with her family. Kathy also coaches volleyball at Plainwell High School. She is married with two children.

Jennifer Miller, P.T.A.

Jennie is a native of Kalamazoo and has 18 years of experience as a therapist's technician. In 2001, she graduated from Kellogg Community College with an Associate's in Applied Science for the Physical Therapist Assistant. Jennie is a skier, tennis player, and is involved with church music activities.

Shad Spears A.T.C/P.T.A

Shad grew up in South Dakota and is a transplant to Michigan. He is a graduate of Arapahoe Community College where he received his P.T.A. degree. His clinical interests include orthopedic and sports injuries. Shad enjoys the outdoors, sports, and family time with wife, son and 2 daughters.

Neal McCrum, M.P.T.

Neal McCrum is originally from Webberville, MI, but currently resides in Portage. He graduated with a B.S. from Grand Valley State University and a Masters in Physical Therapy form East Carolina University. His clinical interests include: orthopedic and sports related injuries. Neal enjoys spending time with his wife and golfing.

Kristen Murga Stradt, P.T., D.P.T., A.T.C.

Kristen Murga Stradt grew up in Rock Island, IL, which is the only place were the Mississippi River runs east to west. She attended Clarke College in Dubuque, IA where she earned her B.S. in Athletic Training and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Kristin enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 dogs doing anything outside.

Ellen Hector, D.P.T., A.T.C.

Ellen was born and raised in the Detroit area. She attended Central Michigan University and received her Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training/Exercise Physiology. She then graduated from the Mayo Clinic Program in Physical Therapy in 2008 with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Her clinical areas of interest include manual therapy and sports medicine. She recently moved to the Kalamazoo area in November of 2009. Ellen is working at both of our offices.

Megan Cooper, P.T., D.P.T.

Megan grew up in beautiful Traverse City, Michigan. She attended the University of Michigan where she earned her B.S. in Movement Science. She then attended Grand Valley State University and graduated in 2011 with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Her clinical interests include: geriatrics, and orthopedic and sports injuries. Megan enjoys spending time with her husband and downhill skiing.

Katie Verburg

Katie was born and raised in Portage. She graduated from Portage Central in 2006 and WMU with a B.S. in Exercise Science and minor in Holistic health. She also studied public health care in South Africa. She enjoys running, spending time with family, traveling, and water activities. Katie works as a technician and coordinates our Wellness program.

OFFICE STAFF:

Sally Belote

Sally Belote is our Portage office manager. She has been with PT 1 since 2001. She enjoys spending time with her family and learning about new technology.

Nicole Miller, B.S.

Nicole is a native of Portage. She graduated from Portage Central High School in 2003. She attended Western Michigan University where she obtained her Bachelors degree in Community Health Education. She enjoys spending time with her husband and family.

Sherie Goodman

Sherie is a native of Portage and a graduate of Portage Central High School. She has worked with Physical Therapy One since November of 2001 as a transcriptionist and joined the office staff in January of 2005. She has 12 years of office experience and has been a childcare provider for the past 18 years. She enjoys cake decorating, motorcycle riding, and spending time with her family and friends. Sherie is happily married with two children.

Mary Williams

Mary joined the staff at Physical Therapy One in August of 2005. She has had several years of office administration experience. Her responsibilities include insurance billing and patient scheduling at the Stadium Drive office. Mary is married and has 3 children and 3 stepchildren. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, travel, and boating.

Judy Preston

Judy's a Michigan native and has been at Physical Therapy One since March of 2006. She has 30 years of clerical experience. She enjoys most outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends. She has 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

Terri Wait

Terri's a Michigan native who has 30 plus years of experience in an office environment. She enjoys helping famly and friends, volunteering at Hospice, church activites, exercising(especially Zumba), landscaping, negotiating a great deal, animals and reading. Terri is happily married with two awesome nephews.
